Cost of Living in CyprusThe relatively low cost of living in Cyprus is one of its main attractions. Statistics in 2006 show that Cyprus is among the cheapest EU countries in which to live and yet offers a fairly high standard of living. This is partly due to Cyprus taxation being one of lowest tax burdens in Europe. Approximate CostsIn order to give an idea of the costs involved in living in Cyprus, we have put together this simple table of basic living costs. This serves as a guide only, but as you can see, these costs are very much cheaper than those of the UK. Pay particular attention to the cost of council tax! | Water | Approx £50-£60 per year subject to usage, if there is a pool involved, double that cost. On common projects, ie where a communal pool is involved, a service charge can vary from £100-£250 per year. This covers the cost of maintenance of common areas, the swimming pool, lighting of the project etc. |
